VTP AND THE PORT SYSTEM AUTHORITY PROMOTE CRUISES  AT MIAMI SEATRADE CRUISE GLOBAL

 

The promotion of Venice and Chioggia as cruise destinations continues across the ocean. The North Adriatic Sea Port Authority and Venezia Terminal Passeggeri – with Presidents Fulvio Lino Di Blasio and Fabrizio Spagna, accompanied by their respective teams – are participating, from today until April 11th, 2025, in the SeaTrade Cruise Global in Miami (Florida, US), the world’s most important fair for the cruise sector, which is celebrating its 40th edition this year.

The two organizations will present to the companies the important updates on the widespread moorings system, each with its own characteristics and technical features, aiming to further increase the homeport potential of both Venice and Chioggia, thus creating added value through the significant impact that this type of traffic brings to the region.

The ship, operating in home port mode, accommodates a total of 1,800 passengers and will call in Venice until September

 Venice, 22 march 2025 – The cruise season 2025 has officially started in Venice today.

Alle prime ore di questa mattina presso il terminal di Fusina è infatti arrivata la Viking Star, nave del segmento luxury che opera in modalità home port e movimenta circa 1.800 passeggeri, di cui circa la metà sono sbarcati a Venezia, mentre i restanti sono saliti a bordo per iniziare il loro viaggio.

Early this morning, the Viking Star arrived at the Fusina terminal. This luxury segment ship operates in home port mode and handles around 1,800 passengers, of whom about half disembarked in Venice, while the rest boarded to begin their journey.

The ship, coming from Koper in Slovenia and scheduled to call in the Lagoon alternating between Venice and Chioggia until September, will leave the terminal managed by Venezia Terminal Passeggeri (VTP) tomorrow afternoon, Sunday, March 23, thus offering passengers the opportunity to visit the lagoon city and its surrounding.

CRUISE 2024, CHIOGGIA PRIME DESTINATION FOR THE LUXURY SEGMENT

Chioggia February 19^th 2024 – The cruise season 2024 was presented today, about 30 calls and 48,000 passengers are expected in Chioggia, all of them in Home Port mode. In two years Venezia Terminal Passeggeri (VTP) invested over two hundred thousand euros for commissioning and upgrading the terminal.

CRUISE IN VENICE, IN 2024 GROWING NUMBERS WITH 540.000 PASSENGERS AND 242 CALLS EXPECTED

Venice, February 14^th 2024. The new cruise season, that officially will start in March 24^th , was presented today. Work is ongoing for the construction of the new Terminal in Fusina which will be ready in August ensuring Home port operations onsite.

The Court of Appeal in Barcelona entirely rejected the appeal initiated by Adelte (formerly known as TEAM), a Barcelona-based company specialised in the design of passenger gangways, against the first instance sentence by the Tribunal in Barcelona , regarding an alleged plagiarism committed by VTP in the design of  its SBB passenger gangway.

During both instances of the trial, Adelte’s allegations were judged baseless, thus clearing the authenticity of the design of the passenger bridge and VTP’s intellectual property.

Many of VTP Engineering’s projects and equipments are a result of the twenty-year experience in managing such a complex port, as the one in Venice, and are being implemented successfully. For instance, the Multipurpose Boarding Tower (MBT), a revolutionary solution that facilitates the boarding and disembarkment of passengers from cruise ships, is a unique case in the world, like the Ship Boarding Bridge (SBB), an innovative gangway which responds to the current needs of today’s cruise ships.

In keeping with tradition, today at 7.30 AM was held the Christmas event of the Nuova Compagnia Lavoratori Portuali di Venezia, historical cooperative specialized in the in the performance of port services and point of reference for the Port of Venice.

The traditional ceremony, established over fifty years ago by the same ‘Compagnia’, was attended by a number of local authorities among which the Major of Venice Luigi Brugnaro. Galliano Di Marco, Managing Director, joined the event in representation of Venezia Terminal Passeggeri

The Board of Directors of Venezia Terminal Passeggeri (VTP) has appointed Galliano Di Marco as the new Managing Director of the company.

Mr. Di Marco will work with Sandro Trevisanato, who has been confirmed as VTP President, to further strengthen VTP’s positioning as the first cruiser homeport in the Mediterranean Sea and as a company able to combine innovation, sustainability and quality of services on a European and global scale.

Galliano Di Marco, 56 years old, was the President of Ravenna Port Authority and President of T&C Traghetti e Crociere from 2012 to 2016 before joining VTP.

Previously, Di Marco was Chief Investment Officer and Senior Partner of F2i, one of the major investment funds for infrastructures and network at European level.

He has professional experiences within Gruppo Atlantia, where he covered executive positions both in Italy and abroad.
